Workshop on Ancient Folk Theatre Art Form of Telangana Oggu Katha at UohH on Sept 23, 24

Hyderabad: On September 23 and 24, the Centre for Folk Culture Studies, School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad, in collaboration with the Department of Language & Culture, will jointly organise a presentation and workshop on the ancient folk theatre art form of Telangana.

Joly Puthussery, head of the Centre for Folk Culture Studies, announced Oggu Katha. Its troupe, led by Komuravelli Mallanna Oggu Katha team Raj Kumar and under the guidance of Kumara Swamy G, a prominent playwright, director, and teacher from Telangana, who is an alumnus of the Central University, will conduct the performance and workshop. Assistant Professor Nijil V CFCS UoH Coordinator of the program. Special thanks to Mamidi Harikrishna, the Telangana Language and Cultural Department Director, for supporting these events.

These programs aim to enhance awareness of Telangana's folk theatre forms among students studying at Central University from across the country and abroad, and they provide an excellent opportunity to understand educational topics and research methodologies of Indian folk arts. The events will also allow participants to observe and experience Telangana's folk art forms directly. Head, CFCS UoH extended special thanks to the Dean of the School of Social Sciences and the Vice-Chancellor of the Central University for their cooperation in organising these events.

The Oggu Katha team leader, Singarapu Raj Kumar, expressed happiness at the opportunity to present their art form for the first time at Hyderabad Central University. He greeted everyone, who supported these events and extended special thanks to Head, CFCS UoH, Mamidi Harikrishna and Kumara Swamy for spreading Telangana Oggu Katha nationwide.
